The Perkiomen Township Fire Company is a 100% Volunteer organization. That means that each and everyone of our members is a Volunteer – That’s Right… Everyone from the fire chief to an entry level firefighter, to the fire company bookkeeper is volunteer. We are always in need of additional volunteers to help keep our organization running efficiently. We have a job for everybody and no experience is required!
There are many different ways that you can help:
Individuals who are 18 years old or older and have the desire to help others in their community when their neighbors need it the most! These members respond to a number of emergencies which include building fires, auto accidents, hazardous materials/gas leaks, and much more!
Members who respond to emergencies where their main job entails driving the fire truck and getting our volunteer firefighters to the scene of an emergency safely. Once on scene the driver may be responsible to operate the truck he/she drove. This would include operating the pump on an engine or operating the cascade air system on the Air truck.
Members who are between the ages of 16 and 18 and want to help give back to their community but aren’t quite old enough to be firefighter have a special role within the Perkiomen Twp. Fire Company. We have a special program that allows these members to train and prepare to become a firefighter when they turn 18. These members are allowed to respond to most emergency calls and support their firefighter brothers/sisters at whatever emergency they are responding to.
Members who are ages 14 and 15 and are interested in learning about what it takes to be a firefighter. The cadet program is designed to prepare firefighters to take the required courses to become a fully active and certified firefighter in the future. Cadet members will be assigned a senior firefighter or officer to lead them during training activities. Cadet members are able to attend most trainings and respond to most emergency calls during specific hours.
Individuals who respond to emergencies and help keep the emergency scenes safe by controlling traffic flow or crowds of people. These individuals are crucial to the fire group because they are the ones that keep the firefighters operating at the scene of an emergency safe.
Extra help is always needed around the fire house in a number of different non-emergency capacities.
The Perkiomen Township Fire Company has an administrative board that oversees all administrative and business matters that the fire house must attend to such as paying bills, planning for future expenses, and various record keeping activities.
The Perkiomen Township Fire Company tries to stay as active in our community as possible. One of the ways we do this is through online marketing and public relations outreach. We are always looking for members to help operate our outreach platforms such as this website and social media.
Each year our fire company hosts several fund raisers which include, the annual comedy show, annual car show, breakfast benefits and more. These event all require a number of man hours of preparation and execution. Volunteers are always welcome to help at our various fund raiser.
